A previous contributor to Rock and Ice, Climbing, Alpinist, and UKClimbing.com, you can follow his writing at MountainsandWater.com.

Reviews

...a well-organized and highly informative resource for almost any level of climber.--Rock & Ice magazine

...an ideal introduction to the sport for anyone wanting a comprehensive understanding of movement and tactics for success.--Mountain magazine

...Beal's book should be on your shelf and in your head.--Gearflogger

Beal takes the reader through everything that needs to be known about bouldering: history, gear, style and, most importantly, training. With an excellent foreword by Dave Graham that takes you inside the mind of one of the best climbers out there, the book is a complete package.--Climberism

Beal was able to weave together the hard facts, tactics, and movement of bouldering with the reasons that we want to boulder in the first place.--Deadpoint magazine

Bouldering - Movement, Tactics and Problem Solving is just an excellent training book that is actually almost as interesting for route climbers. There are 224 pages worth of reading including everything you need and it targets everything from beginners to the advanced boulderer.--8a.nu

While there are many training and how-to books for roped climbing, few books exist that specifically focus on bouldering. Thankfully, Bouldering: Movement, Tactics, and Problem Solving addresses this oversight by providing boulderers a single and complete source of training, technique, and equipment information...This is a worthy addition to any boulderer's bookshelf.--Gripped magazine

....will probably turn your friends into better climbers -- maybe better than you.--Jenn Fields "The Colorado Daily "
