James McConnel is a Lecturer in History and author of recent articles in Past and Present, Historical Journal, Irish Historical Studies and War in History. Fearghal McGarry is Senior Lecturer in Modern History at Queen's University Belfast and the joint editor of Irish Historical Studies, author of Irish Politics and the Spanish Civil War (Cork University Press,1998) and Eoin O'Duffy: A Self-Made Hero (OUP, 2005)
