Manfred Peter Hein has been referred to as one of GermanyAes most important hermetic poets after Paul Celan. He has published seven volumes of poetry in addition to two volumes of childrenAes poetry, his poetic memoir Fluchtfohrte, essays and articles, in addition to very important translations of Finnish literature consisting of contemporary poetry, folk poetry and fiction. He has also received a number of prizes, including the Peter Huchel Prize and very recently the Rainer Malkowski Prize awarded by the Bavarian Academy of Art.
