About the Author

Giselle E. Whitwell ha crecido en Bolivia, Sud America y tambien por sus raices maternas, ella habla el espanol (castellano) vernaculo. Desde edad temprana sus intereses fueron las lenguas y la musica clasica, lo que ella estudio conjuntamente. Despues de haber recibido su Maestria en Linguistica Espanola, ella enseno espanol a ninos en las escuelas publicas en Washington D.C. e igualmente al nivel universitario. Despues del nacimiento de sus dos hijos su enfoque se dirigio mas hacia la educacion musical de ninos, funcion que ejercio por mas de veinte anos. Estas experiencias y sus estudios en el Instituto Orff en Salzburgo, Austria, la guiaron a continuar una carrera en terapia por medio de la musica, practica que continua hoy en dia. En este campo ella ha creado la especialidadde la musica prenatal, lo que la ha llevado a dar talleres y conferencias alrededor del mundo sobre la importancia de la musica en nuestro desarrollo temprano antes del nacimiento. Giselle E. Whitwell is a native speaker of Spanish through her maternal roots and having grown up in Bolivia, South America. Her early interests were languages and music which she pursued side by side. After receiving her Masters in Spanish Linguistics, she taught Spanish to children in the public schools in Washington D.C. and at the University level. After the birth of her two sons her focus turned toward music education which she practiced for over 20 years. These experiences, together with her studies at the Orff Institute in Salzburg, Austria, led her further into music therapy which she continues to practice at present. In this field she has pioneered the field of Prenatal Music Therapy which has taken her to several countries around the world giving lectures and workshops about the importance of music in our early development before birth.
