About the Author

The author is an an archaeologist and museum curator, now working in Higher Education. This work is based on part of her MA in historical rsearch and continued through the Almshouse esperience in Nineteenth-Century West Riding (Yorkshire Archaeological Journal 2004) anbd a paper on the Aberford Almshouses at the Maids and Mistresses conference in the same year. Previous publications include articles in Museums Jounral, Folk Life and Post-Medieval Archaeology. She also wrote Rochdale Voices, part of an oral history series, published in 2000.
