About the Author

Leila Schneps studied mathematics at Harvard University, USA, and then went on to do her doctoral thesis at the University of Paris, France, where she is now a researcher. She encountered Grothendieck’s unpublished writings in 1991, and her mathematical work for over two decades has been devoted to furthering some of the ideas sketched in them, and relating them to other areas of mathematics.
