About the Author

Ferdinand Aichhorn is a chartered engineer and architect. He worked as an architect in Israel and Switzerland, before teaching at the University of Stuttgart. From 1978 to 2004 he was a freelance urban planner in Salzburg. During this period he travelled in Asia for several weeks almost every year, and in 2005 he opened his "textil-kunst-galerie" at Steingasse 35 in Salzburg. He has continued to spend long periods in Asia, particularly in countries where traditional textile arts are still cultivated.
